AP Fact Check - Fact-checking, accountability journalism and misinformation coverage from AP journalists around the globe.

FactCheck.org is a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. The APPC was established by publisher and philanthropist Walter Annenberg to create a community of scholars within the University of Pennsylvania that would address public policy issues at the local, state and federal levels. It is a nonpartisan, nonprofit “consumer advocate” for voters that aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics. We monitor the factual accuracy of what is said by major U.S. political players in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews and news releases. Our goal is to apply the best practices of both journalism and scholarship, and to increase public knowledge and understanding.

Media Bias/Fact Check (MBFC) is an independent website that has promoted awareness of media bias and misinformation by rating the bias, factual accuracy, and credibility of media sources, large and small. Media Bias/Fact Check relies on human evaluators to determine the bias of media sources and the level of overall factual reporting through a combination of objective measures and subjective analysis using their stated methodology. The mission of MBFC is to educate the public on media bias and deceptive news practices - to inspire action and a rejection of overtly biased media resulting in a return to an era of straightforward fact-based news reporting, and to give people the resources and tools needed to understand the bias and credibility of the sources they consume.

MediaSmarts has been developing digital and media literacy programs and resources for Canadian homes, schools and communities since 1996. Through our work we support adults with information and tools so they can help children and teens develop the critical thinking skills they need for interacting with the media they love. PolitiFact seeks to present the true facts, unaffected by agenda or biases. Their journalists set their own opinions aside as they work to uphold principles of independence and fairness. Fact-checking journalism is the heart of PolitiFact. Their core principles are independence, transparency, fairness, thorough reporting and clear writing. The reason we publish is to give citizens the information they need to govern themselves in a democracy.

Snopes is the internet’s definitive fact-checking resource. When misinformation obscures the truth and readers don’t know what to trust, Snopes’ fact-checking and original, investigative reporting lights the way to evidence-based and contextualized analysis - always linking to and documenting their sources so readers are empowered to do independent research and make up their own minds and it is the oldest and largest fact-checking site online, widely regarded by journalists, folklorists, and readers as an invaluable research companion.

The Center for Media and Democracy publishes SourceWatch to track corporations -providing well-documented information about corporate public relations (PR) campaigns, including corporate front groups, people who "front" corporate campaigns, and PR operations. SourceWatch "profiles the activities of front groups, PR spinners, industry-friendly experts, industry-funded organizations, and think tanks trying to manipulate public opinion on behalf of corporations or government."
